The emblem of Sai Vidya Institute of Technology (SVIT) features a monogram of its initials ‘SVIT’ depicted as a flame of fireplace over an open book supporting a rising sun and ensconced by a grey circular border inscribed with the name of the college. At the bottom, above the circle on a gray banner ‘SVIT’ is inscribed. At the bottom, the motto of the college ‘Learn to Lead’ is written. The flame denotes destruction, purification, divine energy, passion, transformation, and intense emotions; the book refers to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; and the sun refers to life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
