The emblem of APS College of Engineering (APSCE) features a torch with glowing sun placed on a pedestal and ensconced by an oval shaped border carrying the motifs representing the subject disciplines of engineering and the facade of the college. On a banner placed on the oval at the bottom, the name and place of the college is inscribed. The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity. The sun is a natural force that is outside of our control, it illuminates the world around us, helps living creatures navigate the planet and sustains the ecosystem.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
