The shield-shaped emblem of Malnad College of Engineering (MCE) features the motifs of an electrical transmission tower, a gearwheel, a power symbol and a set of buildings referring to the subject disciplines of engineering in a shield. The shield is crested by a poorna kumbha. The shield is surmounted by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं’ (Shloka 38, Chapter 4, Srimad Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘In this World there Exists No Purifier Comparable to Knowledge’ and supported by the name of the college written on a banner. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; and the poorna kumbha symbolises the fullness or completeness of life.

KALINGA INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) was established in 1992 as a vocational training centre with two staff and twelve students. KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. The green colour emblem of the institute has a bottom half of a gear wheel supporting the acronym ‘KIIT’ of its name in which the two ‘i’s depicting two humans.
