The yellow and orange emblem of Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology (BKIT) features a Shivling surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’; and supported by an open book. These motifs are surrounded by the images of a factory, a satellite dish antenna, a set of laboratory equipment, a road with buildings, a satellite and a computer referring to the subject disciplines of engineering. These are all ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college in Kannada and English. On a banner placed above the seal, there are inscriptions in Kannada and on a banner placed below the seal, its motto in Kannada ‘ಕಾಯಕವೇ ಕೈಲಾಸ’ meaning ‘Work is Worship’ is inscribed. The shivling represents divine grace, guidance and blessings; and the book refers tolearning, knowledge, education and wisdom.
