The lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the Dharma Chakra represents the continuous movement and change in life, emphasizing that life is in motion and stagnation leads to decay; the letter ‘ॐ’ is the sacred syllable, which represents the representing the essence of the ultimate reality, consciousness or Atman; and the other motifs refer to the discipline of engineering.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla.
