Sri Varalakshmi Amman (Sri Vara Mahalakshmi) is a form of Goddess Lakshmi, symbolising wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousness. She is revered as the bestower of boons, granting devotees health, happiness, and abundance. The Varalakshmi Vratam, a festival dedicated to her, is celebrated to invoke her blessings for these virtues. Varalakshmi is directly associated with wealth (Lakshmi) and the granting of wishes (Vara). Her presence is believed to bring good luck and ward off misery. As a form of Lakshmi, she embodies the divine feminine energy, often associated with Friday and the month of Shravan (Avani). Her depiction with jewellery, lotus flowers, and gold coins further emphasises her association with prosperity and divine blessings. The festival of Varalakshmi Vratam is dedicated to her as a way for devotees to express their devotion and seek her blessings for a prosperous life.
