The emblem of Government Engineering College, Haveri (GECH) features a circle housing the motifs of a skyrise buildings, a pair of gear wheels, a satellite dish antenna, a computer, and a set of laboratory equipment representing the subject disciplines of engineering ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Kannada and English. This seal is supported on sides by a pair of laurels, surmounted by its motto in Sanskrit ‘न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते’ (Chapter 4, verse 38 of the Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘In this World, There is Nothing as Pure and Virtuous as the Pursuit of Knowledge’, and at the bottom supported by the motifs of an open book and rising sun. The laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.
