PEACOCK FEATHERS

The peacock feather, known as Sikhipincham in Sanskrit and Mayur Pankh in Hindi, holds profound symbolism as a regal adornment on Lord Krishna's crown. It embodies his beauty, nobility, and divine essence, reflecting his deep connection to nature and his majestic presence in spiritual narratives. The origin of this sacred adornment is attributed to a mystical event. As Krishna played his flute in the Govardhan hills, the enchanting melody inspired the peacocks to dance joyfully. At the culmination of their dance, the king peacock humbly offered its feathers to the Lord. Krishna, accepting this heartfelt offering, gracefully adorned himself with them. The distinctive ‘eyes’ on both sides of these feathers, a rare occurrence in nature, symbolize divine love. This love is believed to enter the human heart, filling one's entire being with ecstasy. Beyond its representation of beauty and knowledge, the peacock feather is also believed to possess the power to ward off negative planetary influences.
