The emblem of KVG College of Engineering (KVGCE) features a monogram of ‘KVG’ in red extrabold sans-serif text supporting an open book crested by a rising sun and its year of inception. The name of the college surmounts the motifs and its motto ‘Technology for Mankind’ inscribed on a blue panel supports it. The name of the managing Trust and the District are written on two separate banners placed below the emblem. The book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the sun refers to life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
