Below the seal, on a blue banner, the motto of the college ‘தொண்டு தமிழ் முன்னேற்றம்’ meaning ‘Philonthrophy Tamil Advancement’ is inscribed. The scenery symbolises new day, new bloom, nature and broad minds; and the lotus laurels denote the college being a place of intellectual and cultural nourishment.

The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes.
