The emblem of Cauvery College features the images of the Rajagopuram of Lord Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam, Kallanai (Grand Anicut), a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (traditional lamp), a woman graduate, a lotus with a book and the Rockfort of Tiruchirapally in a circle ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Tamil. Below the seal, on a blue banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கற்க நிற்க’ (391, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Learn Thoroughly (What Should be Learned) to adopt, to apply (the acquired learning)’. The Rockfort, which symbolises the geographical and cultural heritage of the city of Tiruchirapally; Kallanai is an ancient dam built across the river Cauvery, built by Chola King Karikalan in the 2nd century AD; the Rajagopuram of the Srirangam Temple is the tallest gopuram in Asia and stands as a representation of lofty thoughts and deeds which the institution presents; the lamp is a metaphoric representation of the light of knowledge dispelling the darkness of ignorance; the image of a graduated scholar represents the aim of the college for excellence, employability and self reliance; the lotus with a book on its top symbolises intellectual blossoming and sustaining the purity of mind in the midst of adversities; and the name of the college is christened after the perennial river Cauvery which symbolizes youth, freshness, vigour and fulfillment. Holistically, the emblem stands for the empowerment of girls, who bloom and blossom inspite of adversities, graduate and aglow with the power of the acquired knowledge and conduct themselves accordingly, thereby bringing glory to the institution, to the society and to the nation at large.
