The logo of Syed Hameedha Arabic College (SHAC) features a crescent moon inscribed with the Arabic inscription of ‘كيفكري تاميل نادو الهند’ of the name of the place of the college holding a foldable lectern with an open book (Quran) surmounted by an Arabic inscription of the name of the college ‘كلية سيد حميدة العربية’. The name of the college is written on the right in green and black. The crescent moon widely believed that the crescent moon and star is an internationally-recognized symbol of Islam; the lectern elevates the book off the floor, signifying reverence, respect, and the sacredness of the knowledge being studied; and the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
