The emblem of Bishop Packiam Arokiaswamy College of Education (BPACE) features a shield housing the motifs of a radiating traditional lamp held by a pair of hands, an open book, eleven stars and the name of the college. A crown crests the shield and a banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Achieve Eminence’ supports it. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the radiating lamp symbolises enlightenment and the spread of knowledge; the book refers to knowledge, learning, education and wisdom; the stars represent achievement or guidance; the crown symbolises supreme authority, sovereignty, and royalty, power and legitimacy.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
