THIRAVIUM GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS (TGI)

The emblem of Thiravium Group of Institutions (TGI) features the motifs of an open book with a group of silhouette humans standing below and lotus supporting a traditional lamp placed above. The motifs are ensconced by a yellow oval border inscribed with the name of the Group and a cross. A pair of laurels support the oval and a purple banner inscribed with the initials ‘TGI’ is placed below. The group people are the stake holders of the college namely, the students, faculty and the management; the book refers to education, learning and wisdom; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the cross is the primary symbol of Christianity, representing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, his victory over sin and death, and his ultimate sacrifice for humanity.

UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. Inside the border, motifs of a drum, supported by a pair of horns; an open book topped by a red sun ; a banyan tree and a pair of crests of millets are placed.
