The shield-shaped emblem of Bishop Agniswamy College of Education (BACE) housed the motifs of an open book supporting a hand holding a pen with the head of a lighthouse. The shield is surmounted by a banner inscribed with its tagline ‘Arise! Shine!’ and supported by a banner inscribed with the name and place of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book symbolises knowledge, learning, education, and wisdom; the pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; and the lighthouse symbolises hope, guidance, safety, and resilience, acting as a steadfast beacon through darkness and storms, representing a safe harbor, steady direction, and inner spiritual light or consciousness that helps navigate life's challenges and find the right path.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
