The ship-shaped emblem of  V.O.C. College of Education (VOCCE) houses the motifs of a ship on the ocean; a lotus and a swan. The ship on the ocean refers to the shipping operations carried out by the nationalist Shri V. O. Chidambaram Pillai against British imperialism; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; and the swan is a sacred bird and are symbols of grace and beauty. Below the emblem, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அன்பு அறிவு அறம்’ meaning ‘Love Wisdom Virtue’ is written.

The central motifs of the winged Staff of Caduceus entwined by a pair of serpents crested with a flaming torch, supported by an open book and a pair of laurels replace the Lion Capital; and the name, place and motto of the college replace the name of the State. The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.

These are circumscribed by the name and place of the college and its year of establishment. These are ensconced by circular outlines in red and orange. The lotus and the humans represent purity, resilience and growth.
