The emblem of Syed Hameedha Arts & Science College (SHASC) features a mortarboard hat surmounted by the motto of the college ‘My Lord Advance Me in Knowledge’ and supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Arabic ‘رب زدني علما’ meaning ‘My Lord Advance Me in Knowledge’ ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college and a pair of green stars. The mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the green stars are modern, widely recognised symbols of Islam, representing paradise, divine favor, and the five pillars.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

GIRIDIH COLLEGE, GIRIDIH The emblem of Giridih College, Giridih features a circle with four panels housing the motifs of a banyan tree, rising sun, a miner with a pickaxe and a range of mountains supported by a pair of stalks of grain. The name of the college and its motto are written in Devanagari on a circular border around the motifs.
