NO. 4 SQUADRON

The No. 4 Squadron of Air Force was formed at Peshawar on Feb 1, 1942, under the command of Sqn Ldr Hu 'Bulbul' Khan. The crest, which was adopted in 1944 consists of an Oorial head with the Ashoka on top and the Squadron’s Motto ‘Maan par Jhan’ meaning 'Honour unto death' written below. The oorial was named after the local mountain sheep present in the Peshawar area where the squadron used to conduct ops. This was to symbolise the qualities of endurance, strength and the fighting spirit that makes it fight to death rather than lose face and honour by turning away.

GOVERNMENT GANDHI MEMORIAL SCIENCE COLLEGE, JAMMU (GGM SC JAMMU) The emblem of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu (GGM SC Jammu) features three orange and cyan feathers held by a royal coronet with a scroll inscribed with the motto ‘Ich Dien’ of the college in Old German, which translates to ‘I Serve’. COLUMBA'S COLLEGE, HAZARIBAGH (SCC) The emblem of St. Columba's College, Hazaribagh (SCC) features a light blue shield inscribed with the motifs of a cross, a dove, elements like elements including a castle, a lion and a harp, a leopard (or panther) and a coiled serpent, along with the letter ‘M’ and a figure representing Saint Columba (an Irish abbot and missionary) standing before a rising sun. Below the shield, on a blue banner, the motto of the college in Latin ‘Domine Quis Habitabit?’ (opening of Psalm 15 in the Bible) meaning ‘Lord, who may dwell’ is written.
