GRAMODAYA VISHWAVIDYALAYA
(MGCGV) |
The emblem of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV) features a pair of wooden footwear (padukas) referring to Mahatma Gandhi, placed inside a circle formed by a rising sun and a semi-circular gear. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विश्वं ग्रामे प्रतिष्ठितम्’ meaning ‘The Whole World is Contained in One Village’ is inscribed in the circle. An ear of wheat is placed above the footwear. The Padukas or footwear centered in the emblem represents spiritual heritage, humility, and dedication to grassroots service. It honours the ancient culture of Chitrakoot and evokes the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Rama. The Wheat Ear represents agriculture, rural livelihoods and food security. The gearwheel symbolises technology, industry and vocational skill development. The rising sun denotes the dawn of knowledge, spiritual transformation and education spreading to eliminate the darkness of poverty and ignorance in rural sectors.
