Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NITJ) was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College and was given the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) by the Government of India on October 17, 2002. The gear wheel shaped emblem of this institute has a border in which its name is written in English and the circle inside the border houses an atomic structure picture with a backdrop of a glowing sun. AT the bottom in a banner its tagline in Sanskrit ‘सरस्वती नमस्तुभ्यम्' meaning ‘Obeisance to Saraswati’.
