The birth of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, (IITBBSR) came on August 15, 2007. The main campus of IIT Bhubaneswar is situated at the foot of Barunei Hill which is famous for its rich history of sustained resistance during 1803 – 1804 against the British occupation of Khurda Garh, the last independent fort of India. Its emblem has a bicolour - blue and cyan, motif of cereal growing from a book which was started in 2008. It grows out of a circular border with its name written in Hindi. A banner at the bottom bears its name in English.
