The circular emblem of ARC Viswanathan College (ARCVC) features a shield inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அன்பு அறிவு அடக்கம்’ meaning ‘Love Knowledge Humility’, the emblem of Bharathidasan University supported by a TMT bar, the initials of the founder ‘ARC’ and a glowing diamond ensconced by a red circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The university emblem refers to the college’s affiliating university; the shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the TMT bar refers to the major steel factory of the region; the diamond symbolises inner light, self expression, active energy, awakening and cosmic energy.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
