The emblem of Aries Arts And Science College For Women (AASCW) features a blue shield inscribed with the motifs of a n open book, a traditional lamp, a mortarboard hat and a veena supported by a green banner inscribed with the year of inception of the college. The shield is placed on an orange circle ensconced by a border bearing the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a banner, the tagline of the college ‘Learning Bestows Wisdom’ is written. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the veena is the symbol of art, culture, heritage and history.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
