The emblem of Arumugam Nallamani College of Education (ANCE) features a bell placed within a nine-pointed red star ensconced by a pair of laurels, crested by a tiara and supported by a building. The motifs are supported by a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college. The bell is the symbol of awakening, communication with the divine, and the clearing of negative energy, often serving as a bridge between the spiritual and physical realms; the nine-pointed star refers to perfection, unity and completeness; the tiara symbolises royalty, status, power, wealth, and beauty; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
