The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the lotus purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the palmyrah leaves refer to the local flora; and the colour blue signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

The green colour emblem of the institute has a bottom half of a gear wheel supporting the acronym ‘KIIT’ of its name in which the two ‘i’s depicting two humans.
