The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery;the ‘yali’ the mythical creature - part lion, elephant, and horse or serpent - that symbolises fierce protection, immense strength, and vigilance; the ‘yali’ also refers to the temple sculptures of Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple of Madurai; the building refers to the college’s infrastructure; and flame of torch is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power.

The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’.
