ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN
(APASCW) |
The emblem of Arulmigu Palanianadavar Arts and Science College for Women (APASC) features the image of Sri Pazhani (Palani) Murugan temple on the Pazhani (Palani) Hill surmounted and supported by blue circular borders with yellow outlines inscribed with the name of the college in Tamil and the motto of the college in Tamil ‘ஞானத்தால் வீடாகும் நாட்டு’ (33, Siru Panchamula, Kariyasan) meaning ‘Home is Gained Through Knowledge’. The Pazhani (Palani) Hill symbolises divine renunciation, wisdom, and inner awakening, marking the spot where Lord Murugan renounced material life after a dispute over a ‘fruit of wisdom’. As one of the six main abodes of Murugan (Arupadaiveedu), it represents the transition from ego to self-realization, with the deity depicted as a meditating ascetic (Dandayuthapani).
