Below the seal, the name of the group is written. The lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the humans are the students of the Group’s institutions; and the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom.

XAVIER'S COLLEGE, DUMKA (SXCD) The emblem of St. Xavier's College, Dumka (SXCD) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of ‘IHS’ monogram within a sun, a traditional lamp and an open book supported by a yellow banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘To Enlighten and To Empower’. This assemblage is ensconced by a purple circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; sunburst with IHS is the Jesuit seal and it represents the name of Jesus.
