The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the colour red signifies passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.
