The emblem of Vidyalaya College of Education (VCE) features a pictorial of a hill with a burning flame on the peak, and a hand writing on a book ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college and supported by a red banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Learn & Teach’. The name of the college is written on the right in sans-serif capitals. The hill denotes the process of learning, which is rigorous and the flame atop the peak refers to the completion of learning and getting duly enlightened. The hand writing on the book refers to education, learning, knowledge and wisdom.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written.
