The emblem of Arunachala Arts and Science (Women) College (AASWC) features a structure of an atom housing the motifs of an open book and a mortarboard hat supported by the name of the college and a pair of laurels and surmounted by three stars. The atom symbolises science and technology; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the three stars, known as Orion's Belt (Alnitak, Alnilam, Mintaka) symbolise the constellation Mriga (the Deer or Hunter) or Kaal Purush (the Cosmic Man). It represents the trinity of time (past, present, future) and the union of Shiva-Shakti.
