The circular emblem of Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Arts and Science (AKCAS) features a globe with the map of India, sun, a computer, a lotus on water and a pair of fish, the name of the college and a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவு அற்றம் காக்கும் கருவி’(421, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘True Wisdom Wards off Woes’. The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the globe denotes education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness; the map refers to the nationalistic orientation of the college; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; and the fish are the emblem of the erstwhile ‘Pandya Kingdom’, the region in which the college is located.
