The emblem of Engineering College Nowgong (NEC) features a brown gearwheel inscribed with the name and place of the college and its motto ‘Excellence in Engineering Education’. The wheel houses the motifs of an electrical transmission tower, a dish antenna, a computer and a set of highrise buildings. Below the gearwheel, on a yellow banner, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या सर्वस्य भूषणम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge is the Ornament of All’ (Chanakya Niti, Kautilya) is inscribed. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology.
