The yellow, red and black emblem of MIT Group of Institutes, Ujjain (MIT Ujjain) features a monogram depicted as the Trishul or trident of Lord Shiva. The name of the group surmounts the monogram. The motto of the group in Sanskrit ‘कार्येषु कौशलम्’ (Shloka 50, Srimad Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Efficiency in Performance’ is inscribed below the monogram. The black pillar symbolises the technical equipment, red stands for the moral values and enthusiasm infused in every student whereas the sky roaring yellow flames represent the crowning glory of the group. The Trishul represents cosmic balance, divine power, and the destruction of negativity.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
