The emblem of Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) represents the institution's commitment to technical education and its core values. The centre of the emblem features a factory chimney and electrical transmission towers, which represent the institute's strong focus on industrialisation, power and engineering excellence. The gearwheel surrounding the central image is a universal symbol for technology, mechanical progress, and engineering. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘आचारः प्रथमो धर्मः’ (Brahmaparva, Bhavishya Purana) inscribed on a golden ribbon meaning ‘Code of Conduct is the Foremost Virtue’. The outermost circle contains the full name and place of the college. It has a legacy as one of Madhya Pradesh's oldest technical institutions.

The mountains and river refer to the local topography of snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan mountain ranges; the lightning bolt symbiosis raw energy, power, enlightenment, and the sparking of knowledge; and the laurels represent a traditional laurel wreath, which symbolises academic triumph, victory and the pursuit of honour.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
