The green colour emblem of Gossner College College, Ranchi features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a man carrying a traditional shoulder pole with baskets, representing the agrarian and labor-intensive lifestyle of the region's tribal communities, a bow and arrow and a woman carrying a load on her head, further emphasizing the daily life and hardworking spirit of the local people. A cross crests the shield. The shield is placed on a panel inscribed with the name of the college and supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Arise and Uplift’. Below the panel, the year of establishment of the college is written. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the bow and arrow is a traditional symbol of the tribal identity and defence of the Chotanagpur region, where the college is located; and the cross signifies that the college is governed by the Gossner Evangelical Lutheran Church (GELC) and provides higher education in a Christian atmosphere.
