The emblem of Ananda College, Hazaribagh (AC Hazaribagh) features a red shield housing the motifs of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, rising sun, Canary Hill and Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose on a yellow plaque. The motto of the college in Devanagari ‘विश्व विद्यातीर्थ प्रांगण करो महोज्ज्वल’ (Rabindra Sangeet by Rabindranath Tagore) meaning ‘Illumine/Make the courtyard of the university of the world resplendent/glorious’ is inscribed around the plaque. On a red banner placed below the shield, the name of the college is written in Devanagari. R N Tagore is a a cue to preserve and promote Bangla language, literature and culture; the sun refers to reinstating the vision to spread the light of knowledge to not only far and wide but also to every nook and corner of the world; the Hill is a symbol for the persistent endeavours to traverse new heights of learning and AJC Bose gives an inkling towards the belief in rational approach, energised spirit and inculcation of scientific knowledge among the students. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery.
