The emblem of Padre Conceição College of Engineering (PCCE) features a circle housing an image of Padre Conceição and the motifs of a gearwheel and three computer monitors displaying three different engineering applications. The circle is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. An inkpot with quill pen, a book and an open book inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself’ are placed below the seal. The ink pot and the pen . Together, they represent literary creation, knowledge, and the transformation of raw ideas into enduring thought; the books denote knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of engineering and technology.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
