The shield-shaped emblem of R.P. Sharma Institute of Technology (RPSIT) features the initials of the college and the motifs of a factory building, a power symbol and a nine-pointed star. The shield is supported by a slab inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानेन शोभामहे’ (20, Niti Shatakam, Bhartrihari) meaning ‘We Shine Through knowledge’. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the star represents excellence, guidance, and the light of knowledge; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

JAMTARA COLLEGE, JAMTARA  The emblem of Jamtara College, Jamtara features a circle with the motifs of an open book, a twig with three leaves of bilva tree, a structure of an atom and ‘nagara’ a local drum and the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘आत्म दीपो भवः’ meaning 'Let One's Atma Illuminate'. The circle is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college in Devanagari and English and its year of establishment. URDHVA PUNDRA TILAK Urdhva Pundra tilak or ‘Udharva Marka’ is a yellow ‘U’ mark on the forehead made with sandalwood paste and a red dot in the centre usually made out of ‘kumkum’ (saffron) worn by members of the Swaminarayan ‘Sampradaya’. In this sandalwood yellow signifies the Swaminarayan's feet, while the red dot signifies Lakshmi. Females adore themselves only with the red dot and not the ‘U’ mark. The tilak or chandlo is worn on chest and arms chanting the ‘Vasudeva’, ‘Shankarsharna‘, ‘Pradyumna’ and ‘Aniruddha’.
