The emblem of Shershah Engineering College, Sasaram (SEC Sasaram) features a portrait of Shersha Suri, who was born in Sasaram and ruled over Delhi after defeating Humayun with backdrop of Indrapuri Barrage (also known as the Sone Barrage) is across the Sone River in Rohtas district. The portrait is supported by an open book. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written on a banner placed below the seal. A traditional lamp supported by a lotus is placed above the portrait. The year of establishment of the college is written below the banner. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
