The green colour emblem of Maulana Azad College of Engineering and Technology (MACET) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a computer, a water dam, a pair of gearwheels and a transmission tower. On a banner placed above the shield, the motto of the college in Arabic ‘رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا’ (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:114) meaning ‘O my Lord, Advance Me in Knowledge’ and the banner placed below the seal is inscribed with the name of the college. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology; and the colour green signifies the religious affiliation of the college.

The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’.
