The emblem of Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri (BIT Sindri) features a yellow, red and green shield inscribed with the motifs of a structural bridge, a pair of gear wheels and three power symbols. A traditional lamp crests the shield and a yellow banner placed below the shield is inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘नियतं कुरु कर्मत्वम्’ (Shloka 8, Adhyay 3, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Perform Your Prescribed Duty’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology; the colour yellow signifies ; red symbolises passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration; and green denotes growth, harmony, and sustainability, reflecting an environment focused on nurturing student potential.

KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. The green colour emblem of the institute has a bottom half of a gear wheel supporting the acronym ‘KIIT’ of its name in which the two ‘i’s depicting two humans.
