COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, PALAYAMKOTTAI
(SICE PALAYAMKOTTAI) |
The emblem of St. Ignatius College of Education, Palayamkottai (SICE Palayamkottai) incorporates traditional Christian, Jesuit, and congregation-specific imagery to symbolise faith, character building and selfless service in the field of teacher training. The shield represents protection, defense of truth and spiritual strength. It directly correlates with the institution's official motto: ‘Virtue is our Strongest Shield’. The cross, placed prominently at the very top of the shield signifies Christian faith, divine guidance and the foundational spiritual values of the institution. The four quadrants feature the sacred heart / flaming heart, the lillies, the religious cipher and a laurel wreath. The heart symbolises deep love, compassion, zeal, and the spiritual charism of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (ICM), who manage the college. The lilies represent purity, virtue, grace and the nurturing environment required to mould future teachers into resourceful individuals. The religious cipher reflects allegiance to the Catholic educational mission and the legacy of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The wreath encircling the shield stands for academic excellence, victory, honour and continuous growth. The banner at the base anchors the crest and typically holds the core institutional motto or identity script.
