The emblem of Sagar Institute of Research & Technology, Bhopal (SIRT) features a red fleur-de-lis or trident Shape placed in the counter of a yellow circle inscribed with the name of the college. The fleur is inscribed with the motifs of a satellite, a computer and a dish antenna and the letter ‘श्री’ and the initials of the college ‘SIRT’. Below the circle, on a yellow banner the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ is inscribed. The fleur-de-lis or trident is a traditional motif symbolising growth, strength and the core pillars of the academy: Education, Research, and Innovation. The letter ‘श्री’ (Shree) represents auspiciousness, divine blessings, wealth of knowledge and humility. The other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of engineering. Visually this emblem integrates traditional Indian values with modern science, technology and global communication.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. Mandal University was established on January 10, 1992 and is named after Bhupendra Narayan Mandal, who was a freedom fighter. The red circular emblem of the university has a circle housing the motifs of a banyan tree, an open book, a wheat plant with heads and a pair of swans in its four quadrants. These are ensconced in a border with red outlines. WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Its insignia has a ‘trishul’ and an eagle in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘Akashmasthseema’ in golden border is placed at the bottom.
