The emblem of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar College of Engineering (RRSDCE) features a gearwheel housing the motifs of a transmission tower, a dish antenna, a factory building, an open book and a computer. The wheel is surmounted by a banner inscribed with the initials ‘RRSDC’ of the college and its place. The banner supporting the wheel is inscribed with the  motto of the college ‘Work is Worship’. A torch with flame crests the seal. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the torch is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
