The emblem of St. Joseph College Of Education, Karaikudi (SJCE Karaikudi) features a cross placed on a decorative circular plaque housing a radiant cross supported by an open book and a crescent shaped anchor ensconced by decorative circular border. The border is inscribed with the name and motto ‘Truth Love Service’ of the college. Standing tall at the top center, the Christian cross emits rays of light symbolising divine guidance, enlightenment and the spiritual wisdom illuminating the path of education. The Opened Book: Situated directly beneath the cross, the open pages represent knowledge, academic learning, and the training programs provided to the educators of tomorrow. The Crescent Shape / Anchor resting at the base of the central circle, this foundational shape anchors the central composition, traditionally representing a steady anchor of faith, hope and stability. Surrounding the central inner core is an unbroken ring of stylized figures holding hands. This represents an inclusive community, unity and global harmony among students of all backgrounds.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Its insignia has a ‘trishul’ and an eagle in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘Akashmasthseema’ in golden border is placed at the bottom.

GOA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY (GCP) The emblem of Goa College of Pharmacy (GCP) features traditional pharmaceutical and regional symbols that represent healing, medicine and its heritage. The Bowl of Hygieia (Snake and Cup) represents a medicinal potion or the preparation of healing remedies; the snake symbolizes rejuvenation, wisdom, and healing, as snakes were seen to ‘renew’ themselves by shedding their skin. It is named after Hygieia, the Greek goddess of health and hygiene. While her father, Asclepius, was the god of medicine (associated with the single-snake rod), Hygieia focused on the prevention of sickness and the art of maintaining good health.
