The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयम्’ (Narayan Pandit, 6, Hitopadesha) meaning ‘Education Makes one Humble’ is written below the motifs. The assemblage is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Devanagari and English. The sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the other motifs refer to subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla.
