The open book inscribed with the symbols of a circuit board, a pair of gear wheels, a diagram of an atom, a transmission tower, and a windmill representing the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology. The ensconcing brown circular border is inscribed with the name and place of the college and its motto in Sanskrit ‘विज्ञानं विधिं विवृणुते’ meaning ‘Science reveals the Laws’. The seal is placed on a blues flower spread.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi.
