The emblem of St. Antony's College of Arts and Sciences for Women (SACW) features a pair of hands holding a traditional lamp and an open book placed in a circle and ensconced by a blue circular border with yellow and blue outlines. The border is inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Empowering Women’ and its tagline ‘Educate Enlighten Empower’. Below the seal, on a red banner, the name of the college is written in yellow. The lamp held up by two hands with bangles and the burning flame signifies the dispelling of darkness, the spread of knowledge and the ultimate enlightenment of the mind. The book positioned below the lamp represents academic excellence, systematic learning and the formal education provided by the institution.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
