The emblem of Supaul College of Engineering, Supaul (SCE Supaul) features a floral circle with its border inscribed with the motifs of the name and place of the college and its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयम्’ (Narayan Pandit, 6, Hitopadesha) meaning ‘Education Makes one Humble’. The circular panel inside the border carries the motifs of a pair of transmission towers with lines, a dish antenna, a bridge and a pair of gear wheels. The floral spread background symbolises growth, renewal, beauty, and the delicate, cyclical nature of life; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
